Seriously, what the FUCK? I'm not explaining what's in the link, words simply fail me. Just trust me when I tell you that you'll react by either 1. agreeing with the WTF or 2. citing Discworld.

As long as he issued receipts for the money he stole, I'm all good with it. We've got to leave a paper trail, after all.

I couldn't believe it, either... I read about that in my daily NRA-ILA email newsletter. (The NRA takes a very dim view of this kind of thing.)

Right... they have an image, obviously, of being very strongly pro-gun (and they are), but when it comes to crime committed with firearms, as far as they're concerned, "all bets are off". They favor coming down on armed criminals quite hard, and something like this really gets them riled.

They do keep an eye on gun-related matters around the world, so the Dutch ruling would definitely be of interest to them.

Yeah...just credit it to who I credited, I believe that would suffice. It's in my Icon Info & Credits entry, linked from my userinfo. :-)

I'm not that surprised by the fact of it, actually.

That kind of thing is actually not all that uncommon in the States, since the IRS really doesn't care what you do for a living so long as they get their cut of it. You could be a slave trader who does transactions in pounds of cocaine and they wouldn't so much as peep in the direction of law enforcement. I just hadn't heard of other countries' tax collectors being the same way.

Well.

It's the Telegraph.

They're a conservative rag which loves any story that makes Europeans and liberals look stupid.

I don't trust it, really. Ask yourself this -- what's the name of the criminal?

Isn't that, like, basic reporting?

Who interviewed Leendert De Lange? It doesn't say. Was it the Telegraph? Or are they just rewriting -- as dubiously as they usually do (http://www.snopes.com/media/notnews/brothel.asp) -- someone else's story in a different language?
