The US was the lone vote against allowing greater access to cheaper, generic drugs against AIDS

Of course, UN resolutions don't generally mean anything, do they? All the same, though, it's still sick. The pharmeceutical companies should not have their profits protected over the health of the very ill and/or poor.

Disgusting.

Apparently the pharmeceutical companies may try to get the prices of drugs raised in Canada, because so many Americans are importing them rather than buying the drugs in the US (seeing as they're, what, double the cost?). It's sick that profit has more importance to them than saving and improving the quality of life for millions of people..

That is outrageous, but I'm not surprised at the USA's behavior. I too can go on a rant against capitalism from time to time. It's all about exploiting the citizenry for money; there is no concern for humanity. This kind of stuff disgusts me so, that my frequent motto is "Kill the economy", and I generally vote with my wallet by keeping it closed. I consider health care a basic human entitlement, and the level of intentional deprivation of the poor in the USA is barbaric.

As long as people keep spending money excessively, it is taken to mean that times are good. When there is less discretionary spending, the government is forced to make more provisions for its people.

This reminds me of what happens between France and Swiss. Some friends are diabetics and one of them is Swiss. She always says she is lucky because she has good medicines, actually the best that can be found. In other hand, the french diabetics of the group are not allowed to have the same kind of treatment, because they don't live in Swiss, and it's illegal to import the medicines... So I can clearly tell you how disgusting I find this, because I see the differences between archaism and modernism, but are the people who build the laws aware of what it is to be sick????

GRRRR.
