The BFG

This is a horrible book. This book will scare children to death. They will be afraid of being kidnapped from their bed as they sleep and be eaten by giants. There is no redeeming quility about this book. Any one who likes it is not thinking about whats best for children.

I liked it when I was a kid. I wasn't scared to death, nor was I afraid of being kidnapped from my bed as I slept. I was 8 when I first read it.

Matilda

I find it hard to believe an acclaimed author would promote disrespect, mental abuse of children, physical abuse of children, revenge, and poor language. I found the book to provide a very NEGATIVE outlook on life and not the least bit entertaining.

Just because something HAPPENS in a book doesn't mean that the author PROMOTES it.

This book was terrible! There was no suspense at the end of the chapters, the ending came too quickly and made little sense, and the telepathic powers were inplausible and unbelieveable. Roald Dahl bombed this time

So, you like the witches, and you like the giants, but the telepathy, that's just not cutting it.

I'm ending this here, I have GOT to stop reading the reviews.

I read The BFG when I was seven, I think, and I didn't get frightened! I was an extremely neurotic child, too. If I was not scared to sleep after reading that book, probably very few kids would be.

(I did have nightmares and then forced insomnia for WEEKS after reading the Narnia books, though. The pool that turns people to gold in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader terrified me for some reason.)

When you get your fifty userpics, you can have it if you want. I didn't make it - I actually got it just like this. A friend of a friend commented using it, I said something about how much I liked it, and they said I could use it. So I guess you could, too. If you wanted to.

My pizza is here! *scampers*

I shall have more money next week. Hooray, paycheck. Are you nagging me or your sister? I'm confused.

Nagging? I didn't say that. *stealthily crosses it out and replaces it with subtly reminding*

Nah. The gold pool had nothing on the effect of the dragon bracelet on my dress up habits for... hell, the rest of my life.

I've only just begun to wear bracelets :B

*rolls eyes at BFG review* Hell, my mom read that book *TO* me when I was a kid, and we laughed about it and speculated as to what was going to happen next when we finished a chapter. (One chapter every night before bed.) Ya know, actually encouraging thinking and prediction skills by reading it together. *huggles Mom* ^_^ One of the best books ever for that very reason.

And seriously, if a kid actually believes the stuff about giants in the book, he needs serious help. It's not even portrayed in a way like, "This is a true story. There ARE giants and they DO kidnap kids during the night." It's in a joking manner. Nothing's describe in a gruesome way, and the names of the giants aren't supposed to terrify you, they're supposed to make you giggle. (Made me giggle, anyway.) Geez, some people.

Hee. I saw this review while pondering whether or not to get the new Tori Amos CD:

This is a good cd, I guess if you havent got anything else from tori. As all earrs withfeeet know (EWF are her fans...her TRUE fans)all of tories cds are worth listening to. I only wish she would have included "The Manitee" a song my band, Life's Hero, gave her to record. Oh well, maybe next time around...

*stares* So.. you gave the CD two stars because you're upset that she didn't put a song written by your band on her 'best of' album??

(I went ahead and got the CD despite the mixed reviews it got. Tori is the only artist I adore with unswerving devotion. Fweee, new/old music, I'm a happy figment.)
