Except that it's not, and this just shows that you haven't been paying attention in class. Besides, even if that were the summation of the theory of evolution, that still wouldn't make a whit of difference. We don't teach that "well, maybe slavery was okay" because white Southern students might be offended, do we? So what's the difference?

Sometimes, I am quite happy I live in Canada, where people trying to do this would, in all likelihood, be laughed down. (some of these are Canada-specific, some not)

1) Introducing religion to a Canadian, or any other, system would be volatile at best.
2) What about the Hindu intelligent design, with the cycles of Brahmic growth and death? etc.
3) If my bio teacher was forced to teach "And some people believe God made us all, etc. etc." she'd resist more than a bucking bronto resists the rider.
4) Too difficult to implement-- some teachers owuld ignore it, some would only do ID.
5) Goes against Canada's multiculturalism policy.
6) Any party introducing this bill might be forced to drop it from the vote if they were in power for fear of losing their government, as a wave of objections would follow it.
7) Imagine, if some school districh was smart enough to include intelligent design from all religions, how much freaking time that would take. We studied that in ENGLISH CLASS. There was an entire unit on it. This is not English class. Bio class is not here to read books and go, "Hm, y'know..."
8) Again, Canadian-centric: If you want religious education, get baptised, take a Catholic course, and go to Catholic school.

I hate hate hate this logic. "Well, um, it offends people, and is secular, so, um... GOD! Yup! God's the answer!"

Same sort of argument that people say: "Christians can't pray in school anymore cause of atheists" (false, and false-- no authority led or forced prayer) or "Christians are the most persecuted group in America today." (Yes, especially as you're 80% of the population, while there is less atheists than gays in America, the Prez is as fundementalist Christian as he can get without losing every moderate.)

And about her monkey comment: All in favour or explaining self-replicating polymers in children's books, say Aye.
