I hate PMS...
Nov. 21st, 2003 05:30 pmSeriously. I hate PMS. I hate it with a vengeance. People complain about cramps before their period, or during. I dont' get cramps. But I get a pre-period boil. Always in the same spot on my butt. It usually pops the day before my period. Okay, it doesn't last very long, but the post-period boil... whee, that lasts a few days, not just one day! And it gets bigger! I don't get cramps, but I get constipated. Gee, isn't that fun! Funfunfun! Fortunately, one midol or equivilant helps the constipation... but then the shit which was secretly constipated (just not noticiably so) for a few days decides to all come out in one fell swoop. I exchange constipation for near diarrhea. FUN! Aside from which, I hate taking pills of any sort, for any reason. And I think I get slight acne. Not the acne that just looks bad, the type that hurts. I had this one pimple that I couldn't even sleep on that side of my face. Very annoying. I eventually just popped it. Yeah, I know that's a bad idea, but that thing was just staying there for a week! And painful, if so much as my hair brushed against it! Isn't this fun? And backaches. Yay. Happy happy joy joy! I get to have a backache!
And that's not all, of course. My pad leaks at least once a month. I end up having to soak my jeans, my undies, my sheets, and praying that I don't get caught out while in public. Most pads, I can't wear, because whatever they're made of ends up giving me a rash (though the kotex with "velcro" wings has a nice, clothlike texture), and I dislike tampons because I can't not feel them... and if I didn't, I'd panic. Too many horror stories about girls having to get those taken out at the doctors.... edit... these fall into two main categories of alternative products
*grumbles* I hate PMS. Can I just go get my tubes tied?

Date: 2003-11-21 05:46 pm (UTC)I don't usually get cramps or boils though. Actually, I've never had a boil before. I get an occasional cramp but it's nothing that I can't deal with...

Date: 2003-11-21 06:06 pm (UTC)As for leaking... I know. I used to always get overnight pads all the time, but they were uncomfortable due to the material. I've found that it helps to, um... use toilet paper to help even it out.... As though, say, you found yourself out in the world with no pad and nothing...
There's also some alternative products out there which are neither tampons nor pads. Some people have found them useful. I haven't had a chance to try any of them, and some of them I don't want to try, but here's linkies:

Date: 2003-11-21 06:24 pm (UTC)I'll take a look at the links, thanks. Hopefully they'll work much better than the pads I currently have. And I'll try using some toilet paper to even it out at night. Maybe then I can sleep with out worry of having leaks...

Date: 2003-11-21 06:49 pm (UTC)Actually, what I've found works is, especially if you catch it early, a long soak in cold water. And running the stain itself under cold water when the tap is on high. Pretreat the stain after the soaking and wash it... in cold water.
Last time I went to the beach with my family, I got my period. Leaked onto my suit. After running all over the place to find tampons, I finally get out of that nasty bathroom... right into torrential downpour. :( Fortunately, it was a short storm, and the day was clear and sunny all after. And being constantly in the water got the stain right out of my bathing suit.
