The framing of this is that ICE is up to no good, which has a lot of face validity. But I'll point out, if ICE wanted to resist Trump by not doing what he ordered but making it look to him like they did, well, it would look a lot like this.

This might be Potemkin data: like the original Potemkin village, to mislead a monarch that all is going according to their wishes.

This could be done out of virtue of course, but seems unlikely of ICE. But it can also be done out of slovenliness and laziness. We have evidence of conventional cops gaming data systems to make it look like they're doing work they don't feel like doing.

I mean, honestly, I doubt the ICE is any more coordinated than any local cop shop. It's a bunch of individuals doing their own individual bullshit, which mostly involves... I'm gonna say doughnuts? Churros, maybe? (I wonder if NYC cops are still eating the churros they confiscate off of street sellers. Probably?)
