On the other hand it is California, so having 24 hour funeral service might be expected, even if it does attract vampires.

I mean, it's Sunnydale. They probably need to do burials at all hours; they've got a lot of corpses to deal with.

More seriously, though, I've always thought that undercutting one of the most moving and beautiful songs with the funeral slapstick was an error. I know that Whedon's aesthetic in _Buffy_ was to use humor in that fashion, but the slapstick really didn't quite work. In terms of effect, I wonder if Whedon could have gotten the same effect by having Spike just fall into a grave because he was too busy looking at Buffy.
