I think I really am going to write to the hospital, though. All we got from them was a drawn out argument about how to spell Mommy's name on the death certificate. They could've at least handed us a packet about their bereavement services.
The vet that I go to sends (or used to) a china plaque with a poem and the cat's name on it when you use their euthanasia or cremation services. After that happened once, I knew to request they not do so for future cats. I appreciated the thought, but it was another damned tchotchke in the house, and I felt bad about tossing it (but did, eventually).
