I think it's a catbird. It's gray, long tailed, no wing bars. Of course, it came in the morning when I was trying to get as much yard time as possible before it becomes unreasonably hot, so I ended up trapped against the fence for a minute waiting politely for my visitor to leave. And after watching it eat, I think it's been coming for a week or so. I just didn't realize that I was looking at bird-eaten orange halves, I thought they were just dried and I wasn't changing them frequently enough because, well, I wasn't.

If you hear a rusty, muted meow in the trees and see no cat, it's definitely a cat bird. I love their call.

That's cool. I've only seen catbirds a couple of times. I've got oranges out, but aside from the orioles, I see only finches on them. We used to see red-bellied woodpeckers on them too, but I haven't seen any in a couple of years.

We have a lot of catbirds. And mourning doves.

Catbirds like oranges. I discovered this when I put some out for orioles a few years ago, and the catbirds showed up.
