Now what!?
Dec. 8th, 2023 07:28 pmThere's this weird little gap/crawlspace that goes from the second floor kitchen to the attic next to the chimney. We really ought to close up the hole in the wall, but it's surprisingly difficult to get to and since the only animal who's ever been interested in it is Callie we haven't wanted to bother. Callie treats it like her own personal staircase.
Well, yesterday, after living here I don't even know how many years, another cat got in there... and got stuck. After counting all the cats I determined that this was Sweetheart/Reeses, Eva's cat. She got her head high enough for me to almost grab her, then apparently decided she didn't want to come the rest of the way up (probably because I was waiting to grab her) and settled down to mrowp piteously every time I walked through the attic, the kitchen, or the bathroom.
I've spent a good portion of the day trying to figure out how to get to her. I actually know how to do it, the easiest way is through the bathroom linen closet. We'd rather do it any other way if we can help it. So I've spent a good portion of the day trying to figure out any other way. Got a few awkward photos of her too to confirm she's still there.
And now I'm ready to try Yet Another Attempt after taking anap break and - she's not there. I have no idea where she is, but I know where she isn't and she isn't where she was.
Well, huh. Where could she be? If she's not there, cutting a careful hole in that precise location will avail us approximately bupkis. I'll want to cut a hole somewhere else if she's still stuck. Or if she's not stuck I don't want to cut any holes.
Edit: Confirmed she's out. This is almost more annoying than before. If she could get out the entire time, why did I spent half the day trying to rescue her!?
