There are a lot of Japanese maples on my block

I've always loved them in the fall. When the other trees are losing their colors entirely, the Japanese maples are just starting to turn! Bright scarlet against the sky, much brighter than the other trees on my block.

Long-lost mammal rediscovered in remote Indonesia mountains (I didn't even know Indonesia had echidnas!)

There are multiple animal species found both in Far North Queensland (Mainland Australia) and in Papua New Guinea.

When sea levels were lower, 12,000 years ago, there was a land bridge.

(The echidnas are on the island that contains Papua New Guinea (half of the island belongs to Indonesia, half of the island belongs to Papua New Guinea)

not the different island usually thought of as Indonesia (Indonesia has multiple islands)
