Please, please, please, please stop posting about it already! Take a minute to check the archives of any comm you're posting it in to MAKE SURE it hasn't been there already. Then you won't feel silly uninformed when the nature of the warning is pointed out to you.

Edit: I just realized that THIS version of the letter says that the draft will be imposed on "boys and girls" aged 18-26. Listen VERY CLOSELY. People that age are adults. They're not boys. They're not girls. They're men and women. You might, might say that an 18 or 19 or even 20-year-old person is still, in some way, like a child (a boy or a girl), but can you honestly say that about somebody who is 26? Stupid emotive techniques.

Anyway, I forgot to mention that I'd talked with a friend of mine who had served in the Navy for several years.

He said that if a draft IS implemented (which he doubts) it would cost the country too much money, and we'd wind up w/ nothing but troublemakers in the military.

Why?

Because supposedly it costs $25,000 to put ONE person into the military. They do health checks, and other assorted checks, medical exams, etc. so by the time a single person gets in, $25,000 has been spent. Let's multiply that number several thousand times & see what we get.

Then, who will be drafted? People who DO NOT want to be in the military. If they WANT to be in the military, they will ENLIST.

So, that means the military will have a bunch of uncontrollable rogues who can't be trusted to do as their C.O.s tell them.

Based on that alone, it's possible this new draft will never happen.
