Most of these, as always, are negative reviews. Those are funnier, especially when they insult books I like.

This was the worst book I have ever read. There is absolutely no comparison to Harry Potter. The story is about a girl who finds a book in the library called " So You Want to Be a Wizard." She soon meets another young wizard in training and together they battle some dark forces. I thought this book sounded really good, so I bought it, but this book is boring, and not at all interesting. It is not creative and some parts in the plot are quite predictable. I do not reccommend it.

Wait, wait, wait. You're saying that Harry Potter is creative, and not at all predictable? Are you QUITE SURE you want to say that?

this book has a good title, it sounded great when I got it. The only thing is most of the plot is about how they got sucked into another world. It starts ok but then cars are trying to kill them, do cars randomly runing around trying to kill people sound like an important plot? I cant beleave she made a sequel.

Three words: Missed the point. And skimmed. Yeah, must've skimmed.

If you're looking for something to hold you over until the next book in the Harry Potter series, don't look here. As a writer of fantasy, Diane Duane makes an excellent science fiction author. If you consider sentient marble-sized galaxies, ferocious living helicopters and predatory automobiles the staple for a book about magic and wizardry, then by all means get yourself a copy. Otherwise, check out some of the more traditional fare, like The Magician's Nephew (or the other books in The Chronicles of Narnia series) by C.S. Lewis, or two shining stars by Madeleine L'Engle: A Wrinkle in Time, and Many Waters

Okay, look. STOP IT WITH THE HARRY POTTER COMPARISONS! NOW!

Aside from that, I'm really not sure what you think is so "not harry potter" about sentient cars. After all, that's what happened to the Weasley's car, isn't it?

I bought this book because of favorable reviews comparing it to books by Madeleine L'engle and the Harry Potter books. In that respect, I was greatly disappointed. The writing of the story did not flow smoothly and did not fully draw me into the characters, while the Harry Potter books instantly pulled me into story. There were parts of the story that were nicely done, but the book was not a joy to read as are the Harry Potter books, and not as easily read as the Madeleine L'engle books. So while parts of it were interesting and good, overall not one of my favorite books.

Hey, look, I like Harry Potter. I like Madeline L'Engle. But 1. Harry Potter doesn't have the smoothest writing in the world and 2. Madeline L'Engle? Easy to understand?

I don't understand that. But, hey, to each his own.

Sophie's dad was not able to support all the kids in his family so he found some people to take Sophie's sisters. They keep Sophie because she was the oldest and when they die they needed to have some one to take over the hat shop. One day the witch of the waste came and put a spell on Sophie and the only person the could take the spell off is Howl. She goes to Howl and she stays. They go through many hardships. She finds it hard to leave the castle.

I only gave this book 2 Stars because the author tells the story in way too many words. I think that the story could have been told in 100 words or less. The plot of the story didn't go anywhere. The story just went on and on. If you took out all but the last 3 chapters you would get most of the story. The story doesn't progress rapidly toward the climax. The author tell way more details that I think was needed. The conflict do not seem realistic because you can not have a witch come into the store and have her turn you old. The ending of the story has a fairy tail ending because everyone is happy and the bad guys are dead, which is disappointing, I think, in a horror story.

I don't recommend this book to anyone because it just goes on and on about everything. If you like reading books the describe every single detail about everything then I recommend this book to you, but If you don't then this book is just a waste of time.

1. Some people? Do you mean his WIFE? Who then had the other two girls apprenticed because, um, that's what people do?
2. 100 words or less???
3. "The conflict do not seem realistic because you can not have a witch come into the store and have her turn you old."

*giggles*

I recognize that this is one of those ill-conceived "put your book report on amazon" ideas, but this is friggin' absurd. Hope the kid failed, because this does NOT deserve a passing grade.

Okay. It's out of my system.
