We do still give them to her, though. She does *seem* to like them. I mean, she rolls over and looks adorably silly. I once asked her if she knows how adorable she looks and if she's doing it on purpose, but then I realized that I don't know why I think she looks adorable when she does that, so.

I've wondered that too. When they roll on their back with their paws in the air in that pose which so strongly suggests they are hoping for a tummy rub, it feels mean not to give them one. But then sometimes when you give them one and they seem startled by it, you have to wonder if you're doing the right thing or not. Maybe you're really interrupting their carefree reverie rather than making them happy.
