(Note: In this video, it's mentioned that tides in the Great Lakes are there but eensy, some commenters from the Great Lakes region state that, no, they're quite noticeable and affect sailing. The existence of tide charts would seem to show the commenters correct and the presenter wrong.)

I live in Porter County Indiana, within shouting distance of Lake Michigan (aka The Lake). I don't go out to fish, but I do go walk by the beach and you bet I pay attention to the tides. There's been a lot of erosion in the last few years, and beaches that used to have a wide clear sand strip at high tide can no longer be counted upon, especially if it's windy. And the undertows are vicious.

One thing I think he missed is that tidal forces work on an inverse *cube* law, not inverse square. That makes the forces considerably stronger than you'd think.

As someone who has been near the Great Lakes repeatedly (and other lakes as well), there is certainly water movement that looks like tidal forces working on them. Whether the video presenter would dismiss them as "slosh" or something else, I don't know, but lay visual observations suggests that there is something there that should be treated like a tide, even if it isn't technically one.
