When I was a kid, I used to get nightmares where I was trying to say something but no words would come out. Pretty regularly, actually, and I'd wake up with a sore throat.
And then they just stopped before I grew up - actually, pretty much before my teens.
That's how I forgot all about them. I have no idea why I even had them. As I see it, there are a few options:
1. Something something psychology that's long since lost in the mists of time
2. People often had trouble understanding me outside the family, and that's how dreams handled it
3. IDK, just one of those things
4. It's like when you have to pee or hear an alarm clock - your dream tries to integrate this input into its scenario. I *did* have a lot of allergies as a kid (and now), so maybe my throat was sore for that reason or illness and my dreams just worked it in?
No idea! But they were awful dreams and I'm super glad they stopped.
