[Poll #347379]

1. You can pick more than one answer for most of those questions
2. Okay, smarty-pants, what IS the point of having your poll viewable to "none"?

I'd imagine the point of having a poll viewable to "none" is like making a private post, so you can check it out privately without anyone else being able to see it yet.

I would bring you chocolate and books. But not before oversleeping and arriving three hours late. ^^;

I can understand having your poll viewable to none in very touchy situations. Like if you wanted everyone's opinion on a friend of yours, but you didn't want people to gain a negative opinion of that friend because many people don't like the person. Or something. I don't think I'll ever need to use it, but who knows?

About locking your poll results to anyone but yourself, then one can, for instance, ask people about their home addresses, phone numbers, e-mail or something of the sort without anyone receiving said information but you. I have seen this done on several occasions.

Adding on to what [livejournal.com profile] tsukikage85 and [livejournal.com profile] velvetchamber said, making results of polls viewable to none could be useful if the poll asked extremely personal questions that someone might not want available to any odd user who might just chance upon the entry and feel like reading the results.

Another situation it would be useful: think about how we're voting for and nominating mods on NC. We're sending all of our votes and nominations to Jazzy through PM so people don't get ruffled feathers over who votes for who. If we had decided to use the LJ community for this, we could set up a poll with results viewable to none asking questions such as "In the list below, who would you vote/not vote for to become a mod?" to get the same effect.

Finally, trivia communities like [livejournal.com profile] disney_trivia could use it when posting trivia questions. If the maintainers ask the question in the form of a poll with results viewable to none, users won't be able to cheat and look at answers in the poll results.

I had trouble deciding whether to pick bring books or chocolate, 'cause, well... I've done both. So I picked chocolate because it tends to taste better than books.

Mmmm... Boooook...
