I've been reading the posts at [livejournal.com profile] brooklyncollege and finally actually friended somebody there. I don't really have friends in the real world, and somebody who goes to the same school I do is... close. And he seems interesting.

People are strange. They're everlastingly posting to tell this guy that they think, based on his icon, that he's hot. Nothing wrong with that, except it makes certain other people (me) feel mildly insecure. Nobody tells me that I'm hot because of my icon! *mock sniffles and points to the icon*

Anyway, I'm not sure they'd come up to him in real life and say this. So why do they do it online? Some of them are actually meeting him in real life, because people from the comm are meeting up on campus semi-regularly (we hope), so it's like real life when you post on the journal... but they act differently. Or I think they do, anyway. I may not be the best judge.

I don't know, I tell people in real life as well as online if I think they look good... but I think it's easier online because the picture is kind of detached from the person and you're not talking to their face. Just like it would be easier in real life if someone showed you a picture of themselves and you commented on how they look on the picture.
