conulyIf ever you mentioned something like this to my Bonne-Maman - a sore throat, an itch, the hiccups, a sneeze - she'd reply that it meant you'd be dead in three days.
In these days of covid, I don't know! Even vaccinated, maybe I really will, so here's me saying to her: thanks for that!

Date: 2021-05-14 01:52 am (UTC)Our mom wound up in a memorial park with strict limits on the non-headstone plaques on the ground, but I always threatened to plant her under one that would have had her answer to every disease from rickets to the plague:
"IT'S JUST A COLD. IT'LL GET BETTER."
I lost a kidney to trauma when I was 13 and she would have probably let me bleed out in my bed if a concerned neighbor hadn't convinced her that, yes, Dorothy, hospitals are expensive but you have more insurance for that than you do for his funeral.
