But just in case, this is my normal rant about l337 and chtspk.

Please remember that some people use textreaders. Some textreaders are very old and can't even translate ALL CAPS. I don't think any can correctly translate l337. Since you're online, you have no way of knowing which of your friends are blind, or dyslexic, or think that the technology is just oh so cool.

Please remember that other people aren't native speakers of English or have other problems reading nonstandard spelling.

Please remember that l337 and chtspk make you look really, really stupid and/or ignorant.

Please remember that it is fucking rude to type lIk Dys. Don't. Ever.

Thank you.

Ummm...I feel kind of bad now, seeing as I joked about a "1337" thing and got excited and typed a sentence or two in all caps.

Oops. :-X Oh yes, I make sideways smileys too, which is probably no better.

These people are in COLLEGE? How do they decipher their class notes if they decide to use an even more exaggerated style of shorthand? My class notes were gibberish enough w/ standard shortcuts. I'd really hate to actually write or type or speak like that! Yikes!

(heehee, effective use of caps there I suppose?)

Oh geez! If it's worth the laugh, post away. ;-) You and I both have had our share of run-ins with that kind of typing. It may be a mild form of it, but I utterly cringed when someone sent me an email titled "ur trade list." Her typing wasn't terrible, but the chtspk in even its mild form just made me shake my head.
