3. The choice to round out Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez with Garth Brooks was solid, image-wise.
4. I'm not sure if I'm more disappointed or relieved that they did not literally have to drag him out kicking and screaming.
5. His absence was duly noted and remarked upon, but it's probably just as well - nobody wanted him there, not even Pence, who did show and acted like a grown-up.
6. I am there for Biden's inaugural address.
7. Our young poet laureate, whom I've never heard of, is quite a speaker!
Sometime in the middle of this our medical office got new vaccines. In the five seconds between me hearing that and me logging on, it was impossible to log on at all due to high demand. All those shots are taken now, but it's still impossible to log on.

But one of the best parts: Andrea Mitchell on NBC announcing that Mike Pompeo and like 28 members of Donny's inner circle have been SANCTIONED BY CHINA AND ARE BANNED FROM THE COUNTRY AND ITS PROVINCES/HOLDINGS! That's going to completely torpedo Pompeo's chances at running for POTUS in the next cycle!

Date: 2021-01-21 06:03 pm (UTC)This was purely wonderful, exceeded every expectation, in large part because Klobuchar spoke well---not pompous, because Lady Gaga sang the hell out of that anthem, and because I cried while Amanda Gorman recited her poem. Going forward, I'm very excited about Gorman!
My aunt's care home took the TV off cowboy show reruns and put it on the inauguration, so she got to see the whole thing, which was wonderful, Mom and I were afraid she wouldn't get to see it. She and Mom are enthusiastic about Kamala Harris. You would have to know them to understand how amazing this is.
