and speaking of resolutions, would anybody be interested in a joint cookbook challenge this year? I have all these cookbooks, I've barely touched more than one or two recipes from most of them (if that), and then I have even more recipes bookmarked online that I've never tried.

I'd be a lot more enthused about working my way through these if I wasn't alone! I'm thinking we could all do one recipe or more a week, and post about it so we have accountability.

My friend [personal profile] madbaker has been posting a weekly "resolution recipe" for many years now. They are always good reading. I really like his format of answering "what worked", "what didn't", and "will I make it again?". I won't likely join you in this quest, since I am such a fussy eater I prefer to make up my own recipes than use a cookbook, but I will enjoy reading them, and I may well be inspired to make up new recipes based on what you post. I certainly have done from madbaker's posts, when something sounds mostly good, but I don't like one of the ingredients. If this happens I will be happy to share with you my results, if you want to hear them.

I resemble that description - I'm in. Are you happy to host such a thing? Alternatively, different people could host at different times, or a comm could be started.... I'm full of enthusiasm and ideas!

It sounds like fun, though right now I'm so tired I can barely think about cooking. But I know in general I think this would be fun and I'd enjoy it! (With appropriate ingredient restrictions, of course.)

We've been cooking a fair amount this year. Most of it has been comforting old-favorites, of course, but we've done a number of new-to-us recipes, largely inspired by the CSA bringing us ingredients we wouldn't have otherwise bought. And the back yard producing more raspberries than we knew what to do with. So yeah, sounds like fun. Can you give more details on what you have in mind?

I'd be interested in joining in. I always have such a hard time choosing what to cook so not having to decide would be great. I would probably only do one recipe a week though, because I'm a single person household so I always end up with a whack-load of leftovers (and I work a decent amount of overtime at my job, so I don't always have time to cook.)

It sounds like fun. I get into ruts with my cooking, but for some reason rarely look into a cook book for something else to do - only to check on How To Make Lasagne, and the like.

I have hundreds of recipes I've never tried, some clipped from the LA Times back when it had a food section, dating back to when we were first married in 1980 omigod. I've been culling cookbooks but there are enough unmade recipes in the ones I have left to keep me going for decades...

There are many substitutions/eliminations I routinely make for my husband's food issues but as long as I post the original and note the changes, that should be okay?

I would love to participate but spoons and stuff; I don't want to commit to one new recipe a week when I don't reliably know I'll be able to cook at all

I'll happily read along though!

I don't manage a new recipe a week, but I am slowly making my way through a couple of cookbooks so potentially I'm in...
