I am more than happy to pay the markup for that convenience. We use a lot of garlic. A clove of garlic a day keeps the vampire away, but ten cloves a day keeps everyone away.

But the pandemic is heating up again, and we can't get pre-peeled garlic through grocery delivery, so I caved and got a garlic roller. It's cheap enough.

It's fun to use, and certainly effective... but once this is done, I'm gonna go back to my jars of pre-peeled. It's just a little faster.

My housemate just discovered this! We still have a few bulbs of garlic left, but I think they'll get roasted the next time we use the oven for something savory. Then she'll get to scoop out the lovely roasted garlic paste, and use that for a little bit.

(I don't cook enough for it ever to have been an issue.)

So do I. My son, who has been doing our shopping during covidtide, scorns pre-diced garlic and buys bulbs for his own cooking. But he loves me, so he buys the jar of diced garlic, too.

I had never heard of a garlic roller before. I use a lot of garlic too and get it either in bulbs or minced in jars; I don't think I've seen whole peeled cloves for sale even in the before-times.

It's currently my third favorite inexpensive kitchen gadget, the first favorite being my rubber husband* and my second favorite being the toaster tongs.

* it's a jar opener doohickey, but I got it because of the sheer glee of being able to say "Quick, fetch the rubber husband!" while cooking. It works better than any jar opener or kludged jar opening method I've ever tried.

I buy jars of Christopher Ranch crushed garlic (they have lots of other forms, too), but that may not be available in other places.
