which allows their cat to go in and out while keeping the dogs from going in and either terrorizing Mama Cat or eating her food.

The dogs, I say, but it's really just Finn. Moonpie clambers over the gate whenever it is unguarded, and honestly, when I see her struggling to make it over I should stop her, but her determination is so adorable that I never do. It's hard work for her! Hilariously, I'm pretty sure that she could just jump over. She certainly jumps onto things higher than that gate all the time.

What kind of dogs are Finn and Moonpie, do you mind if I ask? They have such strong personalities in your posts. M.

Moonpie is a chihuahua, but she's pretty large for a chihuahua - about nine pounds. The shelter thought she might be a chihuahua mix, but looking it up I find that some chihuahuas are just bigger. So I don't know.

Finn is a toy poodle, and as near as we can tell he's purebred. You can tell he's a poodle every time he goes to the groomer - suddenly his snout appears!

This makes them about the same size, which is good, it means they can share sweaters in the winter.

We had a chihuahua that size (not a mix) when I was younger. He was white with brown spots and people sometimes mistook him for a Jack Russell.
