:(

In other news, Finn is safely ensconced at the groomer's, and Moonpie had her nails clipped. I think she may've actually tried to bite the groomer as she was brought into the office, but I did warn her that Moonpie hates groomers and might need a muzzle.

My Rosie Dog is a snapper and we always tell the staff upfront that she's high-strung and will snap at them. They are good about listening to the clients and will have us describe her teeth -- in terms of dental care, not sharpness!-- and then we put the muzzle on her.

We did have to buy a muzzle for home use in case she gets hurt because as she's lost more of her vision (she has progressive retinal atrophy), she tends to lash out when she's scared.

It is. The canine vision specialist we took her to nearly three years ago said dogs don't mind losing their vision gradually, but she has hated every minute of it. She's mostly long-haired dachshund and the bird-hunting genes are so strong in her. She likes to sit in the backyard in blazing sunlight and look up at the sky for birds, and she charges at doves on the grass based on sound.

All this has made me very sad for her sometimes when we see how hard she tries to hang onto the visual world.
