I thought robberies like this only happened in worlds with superheroes. I mean, I know theft and armed robbery does occur, but this... it seems so... anachronistic, y'know?
We've had a couple of series on TV lately about art theft, it's amazing the paintings that have been stolen (The Scream indeed has been stolen before, though I believe it was a different one.) No, actually, we had one about theft and one about the lifestories of some masterpieces. Meh, they were both interesting anyway :0)
Yeah I posted about that too. Apparently there are four versions of The Scream in different museums. But stealing it was a truly evil thing to do imho.
Evil? No. Stealing something is wrong, maybe wicked, but evil is a much stronger word. If we called this evil, we'd need a new word for people like Hitler.
Well..one of the worlds most famous paintings would need more security! A lot more security. Maybe a couple of armed guards standing one side of the painting. Well..that's what they would do here!
I thought it was interesting that this happened now... only shortly after I saw a documentation about exactly that painting on Dutch tv.
And it's kind of comforting that other countries' security measures in museums suck too. :-P (Not too long ago a golden salt shaker was stolen from a museum in Vienna - the thieves could easily get in through a window since there was convenient scaffolding right in front of it.)
Okay, I just realized that "golden salt shaker" sounds really weird, since it's not really something you can shake. It's just a very fancy thingie which was used for storing salt. Piccie

Could have been pretty much any building in Vienna then really ;0)
