"Somehow I thought there'd be more potatoes than this!"

Me, sorting through that same box to divide out about half the potatoes for Michele:

"Huh. There are a lot more potatoes in this than I realized. This is exactly as many as I expected after all."

Have you seen the meme going around: "I ordered 5 pounds of carrots from a restaurant supply place. This is five pounds" - and it's four humongous carrots?

I usually put a half onion (peeled, because I peeled the whole onion) in a plastic container in the fridge. An empty yogurt or cottage cheese container will do. Sometimes I use a zip bag instead but unlike some people I don't wash those so it's more wasteful so I prefer to use a container.

What I do with cut onions is place them cut side down on a sandwhich baggie (I used to put them inside, but then I found it worked just as well to just put them on it)

Interesting! I put mine inside a baggie but not necessary?

Nope, as long as the plastic seals against the cut surface, everything seems fine. I cut off the slice(s) of onion, set the baggie on the cutting board, put the onion on top (cut side down), and then smooth the plastic over it as I take it to the fridge.

In the fridge it goes cut side down on the rack.

You could probably do the same with a piece of plastic wrap, but the fold over type sandwich bags are a lot easier to handle, and cheap.

I just keep using the same baggie until the onion (or tomato) is used up, then I toss it. Next onion gets a new baggie.

I have a specific Tuppperware container (gift long time ago) for half-onions. If the onion is too big, it gets wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. In either case, it goes in the fridge.

Probably the Chatenay (hope I spelled that correctly from memory) variety of carrot. My father use to grow them. They get to about the diameter of soda/beer can and about 6 or 7 inches (15-16.5cm) long. Very sweet as long as you don't leave'em in the ground too long.

That's good that it eventually met expectations.
