My mother has a computer to work from home

and her anxiety is now playing out in her usual way - she is shopping.

Not to worry, though, I'm sure she isn't affecting any crucial supply lines. You see, while normal people might stock up on (or hoard, even) pasta and toilet paper, rice and beans, chicken soup and crackers and cookies, my mother is buying out the nation's supplies of halvah, marzipan, licorice, and lox. At least that all keeps well. (And it could be worse - she could be buying yarn! Actually, if you told me that yarn was all sold out for the duration, I'd believe it. It probably is.)

I understand your mother - I'm kind of doing the same thing. Except I'm buying chocolate, kombucha, dish-washing soap, and flirting with potato chips. I'd buy wine if I could. Or vodka. Also lots of romance novels and comic books. I'm flirting heavily with a Disney + subscription at the moment and possibly Hulu.

I like halvah and marzipan. Licorice and Lox not so much, but it does keep well.

Quilting fabric and bias tape is certainly sold out. Not sure about yarn yet, but the hand-paint studio I like is down to half capacity because they're having their two staff members alternate days.

I have learned something about lox!

Last time I went, the halvah was in short supply except for the more expensive with nuts. My store sometimes has delivery timing issues even without all of this going on.

I hope they're not out of yarn! I just ordered three skeins of white for my mother in Wisconsin, who wants to use up her red and blue crochet yarns, but only had enough white for half a square.
