He behaved inappropriately in a business-related circumstance. Especially for something like advertising, you don't embarrass your clients, not when they're paying for your ticket.
I wouldn't presume to know the full situation. Maybe he'd had similar incidents in the past that contributed to this firing.. Maybe he'd already had his pay docked for something, and this was strike three. I just meant that he shouldn't have done what he did.
