just by breathing on it.
Really, we all should've taken that more into account.
The worst part is that he'll probably survive anything, like cockroaches*, and even if he does die the Trumpists will insist it was a conspiracy. Lose-lose.
* I should not make that comparison. I actually quite admire roaches. They're really a remarkable evolutionary success story.

Date: 2020-03-15 06:10 pm (UTC)I worry about chaos and conspiracy theories if he dies, but I also know that cults of personality are notoriously difficult to transfer, especially if the fervent loyalty is to a leader instead of an infrastructure or a line of succession.

He sounds and looks like shit right now though.

Date: 2020-03-15 11:16 pm (UTC)Yeah, I read an interview with him and Pence, saying "The people want to shake our hands, we're gonna shake their hands!" It's not like they could, say, set an example for the country or something. Meanwhile, they secretly approached German scientists, trying to bribe them to give the USA exclusive access to a treatment/cure/vaccine. Yup, very prepared. That's what we are!

Date: 2020-03-15 09:01 pm (UTC)Many of us did take it into account, there was just nothing we could do about it. He had too many enablers and they're all at the levers of power. Ugh.
If he does die I'm afraid they're going to pull a 'weekend at Bernie's' type thing with him. They'll act as if he's still around. With the technology we have and the way he repeats himself it's not an impossible scenario.
Sorry, I'm probably scaring everyone else.

Date: 2020-03-16 08:44 am (UTC)I was gonna say "Oh no, maybe I'm rubbing off on you" as we both know I have a LOT to say on cockroaches, but then I saw "I should not make that comparison. I actually quite admire roaches. They're really a remarkable evolutionary success story" - and crisis averted.
I'd add "and cockroaches are actually nice. Filthy, can't keep 'em around, but nice. They're cooperative, non-violent, and if they weren't so dirty I'd even think they were kind of cute".
More than I can say about some other kinds of cockroaches - not even on their best days.
