One of my neighbors still has Xmas decorations on their door. Today.

One year my parents didn't take the tree down until nearly Easter. I have no idea why but we kids all loved it.

We currently have an artificial tree that we rather like. If we had more room in this house we might have been tempted to leave it up too!

My tree is still up, but it's artificial and still pretty looking. I'll probably take the porch lights down this weekend... red and purple lights with falling white icicles; I put them up before xmas, but they seemed appropriate enough to keep up for February and Valentines Day too.

I admit that I'm looking for an excuse to keep lights up all year around. (Not necessarily the same lights, but also not themed enough to be celebrating specific holidays either. More like a rationalization for not taking them down once they're up.)

Yes, I feel similarly. They are so much prettier than the normal porch light, but I don't want to keep the same ones up year round as that would lessen their impact.

*shrug* One of my neighbors (rental house) got so far as to put the tree on the porch back in January. They missed the one roadside collection in mid-January. So, I suspect it'll sit there until the landlord gets upset with them. The only way they can get rid of it now is if they drive it to the transfer station. Or they could break it down into individual branches and put it curb side on the one spring clean-up collection day and hope the city takes it.

Construction debris is not collected curb side. They'll leave those bags behind (personal experience). You're responsible for hauling debris to the transfer station/dump.

I wound-up spreading said debris out over weeks a few bits at a time mixed in my regular trash bags.

Oh, I got that beat:  I found one in my back yard where it had been thrown into deep weedy shrubbery four or five years before, with the lights still wrapped around it!

…  That was not a merry Christmas.  ’Nuff said.
