It's almost a relief that that's over, but then, I'm not the one who has to live there and deal with it. No idea how people in the UK are feeling about this.

several UK people I read are furious, others are—the best word I can think of is 'down'

I'm just boggling at the Washington Post News Alert saying this was "a victory for anti-establishment forces"

like, define "establishment"!

It's not over. It hasn't even properly started yet.

I'm sick and sad and scared and angry.

Fucking miserable, since you ask. And as [personal profile] cosmolinguist says, it hasn't even started properly yet.

I also had a bunch of Other Stuff to deal with yesterday so I disappeared into reading escapist books until far too late, and I will probably spend the weekend alternating todo list and escapist books.

I went through Parliament Square in a cab last night and it was a pretty strange atmosphere. There was a pretty sad party going on (lots of people standing around looking a bit lost) and protestors of several different stripes on bikes doing loops.

Also I had the only Remainer black cab driver in London and he - like me - was pretty fucking depressed about the whole thing.

(What's the stage of grief after rage and bargaining but before acceptance... That's where we are.)

We have a year to make the actual impact on people's real lives not totally shit. It's a fight for what sort of nation we turn into now.

Most of the people I subscribe to are incensed at it, but they've all been Remainers who understood what was going on. I don't know what the other side was feeling because it's not likely we would be subscribed to each other.

It feels like the beginning of the end. And not a good end.

My planned rail trip across of much of Europe this summer feels more and more like a last chance.

Speaking purely for myself, angry, sad, and ashamed of my country. None of these being feelings I want to be having.

Some of my British friends have become solid Rejoiners*. And no, this begins the period of frantic exit negotiations, which will start taking effect in 2021.
