Well, that was an odd dream.
Nov. 16th, 2019 03:18 amIf we knew the alien invasion was coming to harvest humans and eat us, why weren't we fighting back? Or hiding better? Or prepping in any way at all? And if it turned out that we could sate them with milk, why not just give them all the milk they like?
And where did all those kittens come from!?

I wanted to learn why a beloved science fiction writer, John M. Ford, fell into obscurity after his death. I didn’t expect that I would help bring his books back to life.

Nah. Some Mad Scientist (TM) had the idea that cat milk would do to sate the aliens. And started up a massive cat breeding program. Now, as the Pratchett modification of the Schroedinger Theory states, when you have 10,000 cats in a box (even a large, well-lit laboratory of a box), they are Bloody Furious. They escaped from the lab when a careless and underpaid lab assistant left a door ajar one day, and the scientist only narrowly escaped sepsis from all the cat scratches.

But, but, but... If that's true, we could be training dogs or rats (like the landmine-sniffing hero rats of Africa) to do this NOW. It wouldn't even be hard. We don't have to wait for a machine! We don't need to know what compounds she's smelling to do it! (Though, yes, that is good to study too.) She proved she can diagnose Parkinson's from someone's clothing, which means if someone can supply trainers with clothes worn by people diagnosed, there you go.
