Y'know. When I was a young woman, I was very irregular. Into my 30's I thought the "every 28 days" thing was a myth of wishful thinking. I didn't even ask because I assumed I knew the answer. I mean: God wasn't there, there were no unicorns, so periods were just whenever. Then I started living with my husband. Suddenly you could bake cakes by my regularity. It was *weeeeird* (I later read an articule that pheremones of the masculine kind can encourage ovulation - interesting).

Anyhoo - just a data point of anecdotal interest.

What the hell, body, what the hell?

My life was hugely improved by the MIrena IUD, which stopped my periods completely. They'd been irregular as fuck before that, and sometimes spectacularly painful. These days, I'm menopausal, and man, is that a relief. However, I feel your pain.
