Today is my mother's birthday!

20 years ago I put 50 candles on her cake. Nearly burned the house down. I am never making that mistake again, lol! I just got a 7 and a 0. I actually considered getting two zeroes, then I could've done 007, but, nah. (Or I could've done days. She is 25,568 days old now.)

Ana made a Belgian stew for dinner, and it tasted just fine. Of course, while we're sitting waiting for the food to come down my mother suggested I sing, so I started in on Happy Birthday which is evidently not what they expected. I don't know what they thought, I'd launch into a murder ballad or something? I mean, I do know a lot of murder ballads, the only trouble is picking which one.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any about murdering mothers, but I know one about a family beating a girl to death because they don't like her boyfriend. (It's a long one. Pretty melody. She tells them that if they keep beating her she'll scream and people will hear and somebody will care, but in the end, nobody does. Or, I mean, they do because there's a ballad, but they don't care in time to save her.)
