Likewise for every inane, stupid, awful, wtf, bad, lying thing some of them say. It's tiring enough to just read their garbage without amplifying all their shit, and I think we know that if I did nothing in my life but tell you which pol from which party* said which "never vote for me, I'm not fit to participate in human society" today I would never finish.

But I think this one might actually take the cake. I nearly vomited there. Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew! AND illogical, AND utterly lacking in compassion AND super gross. EW.

* Let's just pretend that one party isn't knocking it out of the park right now with the grossness.

Yeah, King is just a fucking animal. As my father used to day, he needs to be taken out back and given a good beating.

It may well be true...but that's not a thing the rest of us humans needed to hear from him. Steve King of Iowa would do us all a favour by retiring to some obscure farm in his home state, never to be heard from again. Even indirectly through influence operations, as the spies call them.

but if WWII hadn't happened I doubt
the world population would be *smaller*
than it is to day.

My icon is suddenly relevant.  That’s a different discussion you should have at another time, but I think it would be, because medical technology, including preventative, exploded then just as in the Napoleonic Wars and for the same reason. Absent blood plasma, sulfanilamide and antibiotics generally, &c., &c., hospital morgues would be way busier.

Likewise. In the vast sea of disgusting crap there has nonetheless been one huge, fucking turd of disgustingness to tower over all the rest, and that had to be what you were referring to. :-(

It's super gross but it's also fucking stupid, which is the other thing that's so infuriating about it. Who thinks that's a good argument? Who thinks that makes sense? Why does this guy still have a constituency?

All of the answers to those questions are maddening and depressing.

That person has a reputation for saying completely terrible things, and still manages to remain an elected official. That says a lot about his constituents, or at the very least, how effectively gerrymandered everything is.

I in my turn, question why Steve King still has a job. What does it take for Congress to finally admit that he's a revolting waste of human skin who is unfit to be seated?

What the victims of today’s American “education” don’t realize is that this is nothing new.  “Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself,” Mark Twain wrote.

What’s new is the “soundbite” and the technology behind it, which bypasses the sensibilities of newspaper editors who prevented such remarks from reaching the public verbatim.  Now, every microphone is live, and the results are cast broadly indeed.

He could have phrased it more politely.  He has a point; every blue-eyed fair-haired person in Britain has the Danelaw somewhere in him, and the Spanish conquest of the New World was a genital feat that changed the ethnic composition of the entire region in two generations - that took work!

- but he could have avoided using searchable pet trigger-words.

The very fact of that ex cathedra ruling without even bothering to ask me to explain - shows its relevance.

“How dare he say what we don’t like!  There oughtta be a law!”  Is that not the tenor of all these comments - not least, your own?

Be careful what you wish for - you might get it.

Myeaaah Steve King is another example of why the GOP is on a downward slope. I do admit though that he has done a great job strengthening the DNC as a result. Texas is scheduled to go blue based on most reports just because they understood to embrace the younger, progressive, fringes.
