Me: Don't be so melodramatic. The world is not going to end.
Eva: The human race will!
Me: Be reasonable. The human race is not going to end until after you die.
Eva: 2050 is not that far away!
Me: You don't listen to a word I say, do you?
Eva: Yes, I do. You said that the human race is - ugh.
Me: Anyway, you shouldn't worry. I promise, a violent death is the last thing that will ever happen to you.
Eva: You mean it'll be slow and painful?
Me: ...
Eva: Oh. Wait. I hate you.

(I've been like this her whole life and longer, you'd think she'd be used to it by now. At least she calmed down about the slow-moving apocalypse.)

I love everything about this conversation. Gallows humor is THE BEST! (I find it the most....relieving, somehow. Like it tangentially reduces tension in my body. I guess having the morbid acknowledged while laughing is good for a person!)

If Eva is still alive, the human race obviously hasn't ended yet, because she's a human and she's alive.
