It's funny, it's still mostly lawyers, but they make a huge point of saying you do not have to be a lawyer to be a member of the ACLU. They say that, but husband and I were at an ACLU mixer a few years ago and everyone seemed really surprised when they asked what we did and he said teacher and I said housewife.
