A tweet by a woman detailing how a stranger took control of her wheelchair has prompted other people to share similar stories and support. (This isn't hard! Don't touch people or their things unless they ask or they're literally about to careen off a cliff!)

Blind folks get this too.

A blind acquaintance once wound up falling into an excavation beside the sidewalk because someone tried to "help" him avoid it (the blind guy *knew* it was there).

But this "helpful(not!) person *grabbed* him to try to steer him away from it. and the ensuing (natural) reaction to getting grabbed did the rest.

Folks, if you want to "help" ASK FIRST.

Alas, I think he was concentrating on getting *away* from this attacker and didn't realize he was falling until it was too late.

Fortunately it was only a three foot drop.
