Preachin' to the choir, my friend. I'm categorically against all diacritical marks in English, because it's a pain in the butt to have to search-copy-paste words that can't be typed on an ordinary keyboard. I'm willing to do that for Sindarin when necessary, because there's no way around it, but I see no reason to inflict that bullshit on our own language, the spelling of which is quite complicated enough as it is.
