The bananas fic made me laugh. I've been ordering "banana samplers" from Miami Fruit and yeah, there is no comparison between the Cavendish and Gros Michel. The Gros Michel is much better.

Yes! Although you can't order them right now- they stop shipping during the summer. I've ordered the small banana sampler box twice, and both times we were not disappointed.

What intrigues me, is that the date on this post is 19th July at 10:20pm. And while in New Zealand it's the 4am 19th, it's only 4pm on the 18th here, and I can't see how it can be _that_ much later wherever you are!
