Don't! One of the librarians is severely allergic! (I found a news article that expanded on the viral tweet. Max is not allowed in for good reason, like "not causing a librarian to stop breathing.")

I remember the year when we suffered through a stretch of time that featured a dead dishwasher, a dead hot-water heater, and a flat exchequer all at once. Once they were fixed, just sitting and listening to the dishwasher run through its cycle was pure bliss.

While we had plumbers in the house, we also got confirmation on the probable cost of replacing all our leaky heating pipes: at least 4k, more if we get the furnace at the same time.

Sigh. Nothing we didn't expect, but it's actually less than I guessed.
