Apparently, Whoopi Goldberg has been fired from Slim-Fast for criticizing the Shrubboy at a politcal rally.

At one point in a speech mocking the Bush administration, Goldberg used his surname as a sexual reference.

Jeez. It IS possible to criticize someone politically without descending to playground-level stupidity, you know.

What does it matter? I'm not saying she was right to do that, I'm saying she shouldn't be fired for what she does in her own time.

That's how public relations work though, most companies simply do not want to be associated with controversy of any sort. They already have enough people for commercials, so why would they want to keep someone that might invite trouble on their paylist? It might be unfair, but public relations is about making companies look good and therefore make money.

But now they look bad because of the censorship* issue. So they're going to lose money.
