I found this link when signing into Hotmail.

Do you consider yourself a height snob? You may be and not even realize it. When sizing up a potential date, what do you look for? A nice body, killer eyes and a big smile are usually at the top of the list. Actually, I'm looking for manners, intelligence, and the willingness to blow bubbles/splash in rain puddles. But hey, quit looking way up there. Take a gander down at that 5'7" hottie. You've never looked there before. I haven't? See? You can be vertically discriminating. I see that you're lying about me. And calling me more shallow than you, which is funny

So what makes someone tall versus short? Maybe it's how tall they are compared to their significant other. Or maybe it's based on statistics. Currently, the average height for men is 5'9". So does that make everyone under that below average? Why, yes, yes it does! Amazing how that works!

It's fine to want a guy that matches up well with you. Oh god, this can't be going anyplace good... In fact, when it comes to height requirements, we girls usually have one cardinal rule: When we wear heels, we shouldn't be taller than our man. *scream* I don't wear heels. Heck, given half a chance, I don't wear shoes! And if I did wear heels, I promise you, I wouldn't worry about how tall this man is. And little note? Men who go out with girls are called pedophiles or staturatory rape offenders.

But why is that? What's the fascination with taller guys? I HAVE NO FRIGGIN' CLUE! STOP OBSESSING OVER IT AND SAY SOMETHING USEFUL! Sheila, 26, loves the beanpoles: "When a guy is a foot taller than me, I feel safer, like he can take care of me." Um, yeah. Because, y'know, only really weak guys, without weapons, will ever attack you

Alisha, 29, echoes this point, "A tall man is a symbol of strength and that just makes me feel protected." You'd feel more protected if you took a self-defense class and bought a can of pepper spray

Hello? Have either of you taken a look at the under 5'9" crowd lately? If you want strength, that's the place to be. Many of these guys are buff and tend to be a lot more muscular than those scrawny streetlamps you've been dating. Unless they're dating tall muscular men. And don't you think they should learn to defend themselves? We're not in Afghanistan. Women walk alone. At night.

And a few more plugs for shorter guys: They're easier to hug and you can look them in the eye. Well, I suppose the whole eye-contact thing is tres important, more important than being with the (tall) guy you love. And hugs. Wow. Those hugs make up for all SORTS of relationship problems!

Plus, last time I checked, it was 2004 and single women were making a lot of progress becoming more self-sufficient and less dependent on men. Is this the only thing you're going to say on the issue? Don't make me quote the Destiny's Child song, "Independent Women" to prove my point. Apparently so. Destiny's Child? *shudders

Debra, 32, claims her love for tall guys has nothing to do with needing a bodyguard: "I'm 5'10"," she explains, "If I dated someone who was 5'7", we'd look ridiculous together." So, you're admitting that you're shallow? Interesting approach. That's interesting. Are you saying Tom and Nicole look ridiculous? Okay ... bad example. Who?

Besides, in this century, diversity is in. You have the opportunity to date people of different ethnic backgrounds, different religions and even different tastes in reality television. Why not break down the height barrier? Because my religion and ethnic group forbid it. Also, it offends my aesthetic sensibilities, honed by watching too much Real World when I was a kid

Think about it, tall girls (which, by the way, is everyone over 5'4"). If you limit yourself to only dating tall guys, you've essentially cut your dating pool in half. Short girls, on the other hand, could potentially date any guy over 5'4". This means they've got better odds of finding a date. Plus, they're likely to snag a cute short guy that you literally overlooked. No words. Just... no words

In dating it's certainly smart to have standards. Yes.... You don't want to date a mooch or an idiot or someone who doesn't agree with your choice for the American Idol. If he's intelligent, I'll even forgive somebody who disagrees with my choice for President. Um. After this election, that is. I have this thing where, y'know, I try not to watch shows like American Idol, or get too personally attatched to the winners But when it comes to shapes and sizes, don't be a height snob. And don't exclude the shorties. Gone are the days of women needing big burly men to protect them. So forget how you two match up when you wear heels. It's time to set new rules when it comes to height. WHAT RULES??? THERE ARE NO FUCKING RULES!!!! STOP MAKING STUFF UP! Hey, I say, as long as he can ride the big rollercoaster, he's all right by me. Is that a sex joke? Has she moved past the bad jokes into the bad sex jokes? Ew.

Connie is NOT happy.

Glad I'm not the only person who sees it like that. Don't be prejudiced against normals just because they're shorter than you. But only normals. *Rolls eyes*

i was thinking that too. its only okay to judge people based on their height if they're weirdo midget freaks.

i'm about 5'3" and my boyfriend is 5'6". i have sandals that i wear regularly with about a 3 inch platform/heel so i'm just barely taller than him when i wear them. i think it's kinda cute to look down at him just because that's not how it usually is.

coincidentally, most of the people i've dated were significantly taller than me (by at least 7 inches). after being with my current boyfriend though i've realized it's more physically comfortable to be with someone closer to my height. i can hug him without stretching, i can rest my chin on his shoulder, we fit together better when cuddling. but it's not so important that i'd immediately write someone off because s/he is too short or too tall. it's just an added bonus. *shrug*

that ended up rather rambly... hehe
