Fuuuuck. Can I have a do-over?

Sigh. You know the drill, guys. Batten down the hatches, and keep calling your congress critters. At this point, I'm not even sure what to say anymore, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to just call and have a friendly chitchat. If you want to get me something for my birthday, and it's not a pony, take $5 and donate it to the lefty not-for-profit of your choice. Right now both PP and the ACLU are swimming in cash (Thanks, Trump?) but the FFRF, Lambda, the SPLC - my guess is they haven't had quite the windfall since they weren't in the news. (And when in doubt, you can always donate to City Harvest.)

Pence is actually evil though, and inasmuch as anybody can control YKW, he's the one pulling the strings.

But at least he's an adult, I mean.... And he's at least aware of the concept of an objective reality outside his own emotions.

I keep thinking the more Trump does the more it proves the only reason his supporters stand by any of it is "He's gonna help manually laboring white people get JOBS!" But higher income Trump voters are just waiting for their tax breaks; they don't care who has to be deported, banned, or die for lack of healthcare to get them, and so really they are just as bad, if not worse; the inherent selfishness and lack of conscience being portrayed by both groups is simply amazing.

But they complain that we do "identity politics". Putting their group first, second, and last is hunky-dory. Trying to put all the groups on an equal footing is anathema.

They started identity politics roughly 400 years ago, only back then it was called "Injuns" and "slaves". Since then US whites (not the GOP in its entirety, but there is huge overlap, and the fact that Dems used to actually be the party of racism before making an aisle switch fairly recently...1960ish) could cop to hating every single race and color on Earth (though maybe not all of them at once), including and especially each other's: Italians, Irish, Germans, Russians, Roma, Middle Eastern ethnicities (though these days these groups are all at least technically considered "white"), you name it: every one of these either still is or has been part of white people's out groups, at some point.

That's why one of my most frequent comments across DW is, "Just wait 'til they get whatever it is they think they want, because at that point they'll have no choice left but to start destroying each other". They've done it before and will probably do it again. They need enemies. Groups they can feel superior to, who can be made to feel worse than them over any visible differences.

Something about "be careful what you wish for (haters)" surely comes into this, since once America becomes the Only Whites Nation that's hardly the end of it. Then it's the Only Blondes, then Only Blue-eyed, then Only 6 foot tall and up...they can have it. There are a lot of things that make me grateful I won't live much past 80 years, if I last even somewhat that long, and their identity politics are literally one of them.

As far as I can tell, the practical argument for impeaching Trump is that Pence is less likely to push the button. (The odds of impeaching both of them are very slim, and what do you think of the idea of President Ryan anyhow?)

ETA: "Practical" because he clearly has committed impeachable offences under the Emoluments Act, though the Clinton years reminded us that an impeachable offense is anything the House of Representatives thinks it is, "high crimes and misdemeanors" being so vague.

On the other hand, if Trump pushes the button then we'd no longer have to worry about global warming or overpopulation. Never again. That's the bright side, right? The, uh, very bright side.

Would Ryan be worse than Pence? I can't even tell anymore. They're all an amorphous blob of "god, I hope they die in some humiliating way very, very soon". (But, you know, peacefully.)

Yeah, Pence or Ryan...I'd have to toss a coin. Both are bad in so many ways...maybe just narrowly Ryan, since at least he pays (or used to pay - he's been changing stripes quite rapidly since Der Cheeto won the election, starting with his Hallelujah yells about it being time for THE REDEMPTION that same day, which has permanently freaked me the fuck out) lip service to not being so racist. But who knows, given the stripe-changing.

I just uh, yeah, bad choice to have to make. Very.

I don't really want them to suffer, I just want them to disappear. Death is permanent, but honestly, suffer some scandal or retire or get sucked into an alternate universe - whatever. I don't care what they do, so long as they do it somewhere else. If I thought we could pay them to go away, I'd be all for that. (Sadly, I don't think Trump is going to be interested in my life fortune.)

Edit: To be fair, I don't really care if they do suffer, but I'm not looking for vengeance. I just want them goooooone.

Death is permanent

Try believing there's an afterlife. Nothing's permanent, then. It can give a nice break, though, from the more unpleasant aspects of life, and from some of the more unpleasant people, either by their removal from living or our own.

Wouldn't stop anyone. Trump is a walking assortment of scandals. So is, say, Sessions. Doesn't matter anymore. Whole new world.

They'd just demand more and more money to do so, and even if you were rich enough to wipe your ass with solid 24k gold toilet paper you'd never have enough to actually drive them off. Where would they go, anyway? Someplace without money? The horrors.

To be fair, I wasn't suggesting their deaths not be be peaceful, just pointing out that I don't much care if they are or not. People reap what they sow...

There's got to be some sort of scandal that the far right would care about. I've still got my heart on "death by coked up gay orgy".
