Today Eva fulfilled a lifelong wish

conulyand we got a new dog!
Well. A four-year old pre-owned dog, but same diff. Her name is Moonpie, and her previous foster family paid the shelter adoption fee for us (!!!!) which was very kind of them. We then blew the money we saved on dog toys, dog bones, and cute dog sweaters which omg have hoods on them.
She is settling in just fine - she's picked one toy as her absolute favorite, she carefully buried a bone underneath her doggie blanket (we had to point out to Eva that this is a fun activity for her and she didn't need her bone to be rescued!), and she is currently very happily asleep on Eva's lap.
Mama Cat is freaking out. She's ensconced herself in the kitchen, and every time I pass through she asks me if I've realized there is a dog in the house. No word from Callie yet. I've got to approach socialization very directly with her. If she follows her usual path and hides out in my room she might never adapt to her new roommate!
