The 100% effective, 100% safe treatment for head lice is plain old mayonaisse. Glop it on, rub it in, cover with a shower-cap, leave overnight, fine-tooth comb in the morning, wash hair as usual. Leaves hair silky and shiny, and unlike poisonous commercial products, will not cause psoriasis, migraine or neuropathy. Magnifying (reading) glasses make nit-picking a whole lot easier - the vinegar in the mayo dissolves their glue, so the nits slide right off.

No need to use insecticides on stuffed toys and such that can't be washed, either. Just put them in plastic bags, tie 'em closed, leave 'em for a week - or leave 'em overnight in the freezer; that works too.

If one uses mayonaisse, olive or coconut oil as a leave-in hair conditioner overnight one night a week, one will never, ever get head lice. The little bastards can (and probably will) evolve to be immune to every insecticide known to man, but they're never gonna evolve an immunity to suffocation, and they cannot lay eggs on an oily hair shaft.

By the same token, boric acid powder is The Stuff for cockroaches, and diatomaceous earth works a whole lot better for flea infestations that those toxic bug-bombs do.
