Interesting!

It makes me wonder, though — how uniform is blood? If it's totally uniform, a tiny sample should be fine, but if there's variation, tiny samples are going to be more subject to that variation. I know when they prick your finger to test your hemoglobin (before you donate blood, to make sure you're not anemic) there can be a big difference between one test and the next. Maybe it's a problem with the test itself, and a more accurate test would avoid that, but my impression had been that there's variation between those tiny blood samples.
