I really don't know what to say to the first one. The pit of horror that opens up when I read it is hard to express. And for a CENTURY. Ugh.

You may want to avoid the link in the article that leads to a website of survivor stories, then. One thing that just jumped out at me about those stories is how many of them mention this boy or that boy who was taken away to be beaten and then the writer never saw him again.
