GPS Tracking Devices for Kids with Autism

Yeah, Lojack for people.

The article you linked to is kinda stupid. The difference between the kids with autism "eloping" that have their parents concerned and thinking Lojack is a good idea, and kids -- with or without autism -- who bolt but don't cause their parents to think "a tracking device would be really useful", is that in the latter case, the kid can be assumed to fend for him or herself while they're off on their own. Most fifteen year olds who ditch school to hop on the subway aren't "eloping", they're truant, nobody thinks they're going to drown if unattended for, honestly, several days, and nobody feels the need to give them a Lojack bracelet, not least because they don't want to be found and will remove the bracelet to do so.

No, the people for whom Lojack bracelets make sense are people of any age who can't safely fend for themselves, such as Alzheimer's patients, who are also not trying to evade supervision.
